The People I’ve Never Met translates the unfaltering optimism of New York-based artist Mr. StarCity into an edition of reconfigurable, multimedia sculptures.

The edition draws inspiration from a series of original ceramic works created by the artist in 2021. A handmade glass vase with undulating stripes is accompanied by a collection of colourful fabric hats and magnetised glass stems. Dimensions will vary depending on arrangement.

Collectors are invited to compose and re-compose their own unique arrangement, held in place by vibrant blue sand at the bottom of the vase. In doing so, the ‘positivity and blessings’ imbued in the work by Mr. StarCity are passed on, fulfilling his ultimate ambition – to spread love.

The People I've Never Met is launched alongside a hand-finished print edition, Holding onto Faith.

Mr. StarCity2 collaborationsMr. StarCity paints emotive, abstract figures in an ever-evolving practice. A self taught artist, he loves playing with eclectic materials. These include sand, soil, pumice, fabric, crayon and acrylic paint. As a result, his paintings have a thick, tactile texture. They also have a strong narrative quality. Mr. StarCity sees his art as telling stories in order to promote communal healing. He seeks to remind us of “the importance of sharing and supporting our basic human needs with the people around us.” Other works span sculpture, music and fashion. He is inspired by hip hop music and graffiti, as well as his personal experiences and encounters.
